About Blair

Blair Dorminey followed an uncommon academic route to the law. He studied philosophy at the University of Georgia, earning his B.A. in 1972, then spent time in Germany at Eberhard-Karls Universität in 1976. He returned to the United States for graduate work at Yale, completing a J.D. in 1980 and an M.B.A. in Public and Private Management in 1981. Those years combined humanities, European study and business training into a backdrop for a legal career.

He began practicing in Georgia and formally joined the State Bar of Georgia in 1984. He is admitted to practice in Georgia and has the credential to appear in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Over the decades he has maintained active membership in the State Bar of Georgia and belongs to the Western Circuit Bar Association in Georgia. Those affiliations reflect a steady presence in the state’s legal community.

His work has centered on immigration law. That area of practice ties into federal courts and administrative agencies, and Dorminey handles matters that reach beyond state lines. He represents individuals and families in proceedings that often involve complex statutory and regulatory questions. He also appears in federal forums when cases require appellate review or federal court intervention.

His background in philosophy and management is often evident in how he approaches cases. He tends to examine underlying legal frameworks and practical consequences. That combination makes him attentive to both doctrine and client circumstances. Over a multi-decade career he has navigated changes in immigration policy, shifting administrative priorities and evolving appellate decisions.

Outside formal memberships, his professional life has been shaped by lengthy practice in Georgia and work in federal court. He continues to engage in cases that require both trial-level advocacy and appellate work before the Eleventh Circuit. As of 2026, he practices immigration law in Georgia and appears in federal court, including the Eleventh Circuit.
