About Bill
Bill Sims earned his Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School in 2000 after completing an undergraduate degree at Evangel University the same year. He finished both degrees as the new century began. Those credentials set the stage for a career practiced across state lines.
After law school, Sims became licensed to practice in both South Dakota and Iowa. He built experience handling matters that often require an understanding of regional legal systems and the particular needs of clients in the Upper Midwest. Early work included courtroom appearances and drafting pleadings, tasks that grounded him in litigation fundamentals.
Over the years he expanded his practice. He handled cases in state courts across both jurisdictions and worked on matters that crossed state borders. That work required careful attention to procedural rules and an ability to coordinate filings and hearings in different systems. He learned to manage cases from intake through resolution.
Sims’s training at Drake and Evangel shaped his approach to problem solving. He favors clear legal writing and direct communication. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in case preparation. He has spent time learning the procedural nuances of both South Dakota and Iowa rules of civil procedure and evidence.
In recent years Sims has been associated with Northern Plains Justice, LL. His practice is located in the region served by that office and he remains active in representing clients before state tribunals. He balances litigation work with client counseling and legal research. He also takes on the administrative tasks that come with managing files and court deadlines.
Outside the office, Sims has maintained ties to the legal communities in the states where he practices. He attends continuing legal education and participates in local bar activities when schedules permit. Over time he has refined a practical approach to case management and client communication.
He continues to represent individuals and entities in matters filed in South Dakota and Iowa. His current practice at Northern Plains Justice, LL covers courtroom proceedings, motion practice and pretrial strategy across both states.
