About Benjamin
Benjamin Wilensky began his academic path at Michigan State University, where he completed dual undergraduate degrees in 2005 — a Bachelor of Arts in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy from James Madison College and a Bachelor of Science in Urban & Regional Planning. He went on to earn his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2010. His education combined policy, planning and law, a background that has influenced how he approaches complex disputes.
After law school, Wilensky entered private practice. He joined Seikaly & Stewart, P.C. as an associate in 2011. There he handled litigation matters that gave him early courtroom experience and exposure to civil practice in Michigan. In 2016 he moved to Sommers Schwartz P.C. as an associate, continuing work on plaintiff-side litigation. The move marked a steady progression through regional civil litigation circles rather than a sudden shift.
Wilensky is admitted to practice in several jurisdictions. His credentials include admission in Michigan and Maryland, federal practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and appellate practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that handles matters at both state and federal levels.
Professional involvement has been a clear element of his career. Wilensky serves on the executive board of the Michigan Association for Justice and holds memberships in the American Association for Justice, including participation in the Railroad Law Section and the New Lawyers Division. He is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association and its Inn of Court, and he sits on the board of directors of the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit. These roles place him in ongoing conversations about litigation practice and lawyer development in Michigan.
Colleagues describe Wilensky as methodical in litigation preparation and practical in courtroom settings. He has balanced casework with association duties and has taken on matters that require both trial readiness and appellate awareness. His background in political theory and urban planning also informs how he frames disputes that touch on regulatory or municipal issues.
Today Wilensky practices at Sommers Schwartz P.C. and handles civil litigation matters across the jurisdictions to which he is admitted. His current practice focuses on plaintiff-side litigation in state and federal courts.
