About Benjamin M

Benjamin M Rattner studied political science at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor, earning his B.A. in 2006. He continued his legal education at Hofstra University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2009. Those years shaped the practical side of his training. They also established the chronological foundation for a career spent practicing in New York.

Rattner was admitted to the New York bar in 2010 and has maintained membership in the State Bar of New York since then. Early in his career he moved from classroom study to courtroom routines and client counseling. Over the next decade and a half he built steady experience in the daily work of a practicing attorney: drafting pleadings, responding to motions, preparing discovery, and arguing before judges.

He has worked on a range of matters that arise under New York law. His practice combines client counseling and dispute work. That mix requires both careful legal research and attention to practical outcomes. Rattner has handled contested matters in state courts and prepared transactional documents when clients needed clear agreements.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and plainspoken with clients. He favors clear explanations over legal jargon. In meetings he aims to set realistic expectations about process and timing. When filings are necessary he pays attention to procedure and deadlines.

Rattner’s professional membership in the State Bar of New York anchors his local practice. He keeps abreast of developments in state rules and case law relevant to the matters he handles. As a New York-licensed attorney he works within state court systems and relevant administrative forums.

He is based at Cermele & Wood LLP, where he is part of the firm’s roster of lawyers serving clients in the region. At the firm he continues the day-to-day tasks that define much of civil practice: client intake, strategy sessions, negotiations, and courtroom appearances when disputes proceed to trial.

Outside the courtroom, Rattner’s training at Michigan and Hofstra informs how he approaches legal problems. He emphasizes clear analysis and a steady work ethic. He currently practices law at Cermele & Wood LLP, handling legal matters in New York.
