About Ben
Ben Hoekstra trained on two continents before settling into practice in Washington. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of British Columbia in 2010. Four years later he received his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, completing the academic preparation that preceded his legal work.
After law school Hoekstra moved into practice in Washington. He is admitted to the Washington bar and has handled matters arising under state law. His early years in practice coincided with a period of steady growth in the legal market, and he took on a range of matters that required close attention to procedural detail and to clients’ immediate needs.
Hoekstra practices with Hoekstra Law Group PLLC. At the firm he works on cases and transactions that are governed by Washington statutes and court rules. He represents clients before administrative bodies and state courts, and he prepares filings and legal documents that reflect the jurisdiction’s requirements. He approaches each matter with an emphasis on practical outcomes and careful case management.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and precise in his work. He draws on his academic background to analyze legal questions and on courtroom experience when matters proceed to hearing. He pays attention to the factual record and to deadlines. That approach informs how he prepares matters for adversarial proceedings and how he negotiates resolutions when settlement is an option.
Outside of casework Hoekstra keeps up with changes in state law and court procedure. He follows legislative developments that affect his clients. He also spends time reviewing relevant appellate decisions to ensure trial strategies are aligned with controlling precedent. This ongoing study supports the practical legal work he performs at the firm.
