About Ben
Ben Corcoran built a career that bridges military service and civilian law practice. He came to law after several years in uniform and arrived in the legal profession with a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 2018. He had previously studied political science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, earning a B.A. in 2015.
His path to the bar included substantial time in the armed forces. Corcoran enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2004 and later served as a sergeant in the North Carolina Army National Guard beginning in 2012. Those years of service preceded his decision to attend law school and later to serve as a lawyer in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps starting in 2019.
After completing law school, Corcoran entered private practice and established Benjamin J. Corcoran, PLLC in 2019. He also secured admission to the North Carolina State Bar that year and has maintained his membership since. His dual roles — civilian attorney and Reserve JAG officer — shaped a practical approach to legal problems. The experience gave him exposure to military legal matters as well as the kinds of civil and administrative issues that come before a small firm.
Corcoran’s work in the JAG Corps placed him in a professional setting that blends litigation, advising, and administrative responsibilities. Serving in that capacity, he worked alongside other military lawyers to address legal needs for service members and units. He carried those lessons back to his civilian practice, where procedural rigor and attention to institutional rules remain important.
At the same time he has been active in the local bar community. He holds membership in the Yadkin County Bar Association and remains an active member of the North Carolina State Bar. That engagement connects him to county-level court practices and to the professional standards that govern lawyers in the state.
Today Corcoran operates from Corcoran Law NC. He continues to practice in North Carolina, combining his Reserve JAG experience and prior military service with his private practice work. His practice concentrates on representing clients in matters across the state and draws on his military legal background in its approach to casework.
