About Barry R.

Barry R. Grissom built a career at the intersection of law and public service. He has worked inside the federal justice system and in roles that required both courtroom work and office leadership. He approaches legal problems in a straightforward, pragmatic way.

He attended the University of Kansas before pursuing legal studies at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Those years set the foundation for a practice that would move between public offices and private work. He has combined litigation, management and advisory duties across different legal settings.

Grissom served as United States Attorney for the District of Kansas. In that role he led federal prosecutions and handled civil matters brought by or against the United States in the district. The job required coordinating investigations, supervising Assistant United States Attorneys and interacting with law enforcement partners and community stakeholders.

Before and after his time as the federal prosecutor, Grissom’s work crossed several legal disciplines. He has experience managing complex cases that involved multiple parties and procedural layers. He has also engaged in legal strategy and case selection at a level that required balancing resource constraints against legal priorities.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in the courtroom and methodical in case development. He prepares witness testimony, outlines proof lines and manages discovery in cases that can stretch for months. Outside court, he has worked on policies and procedures that guide how offices allocate time and attention to different kinds of cases.

Grissom’s background in federal practice gives him a perspective on both criminal enforcement and civil litigation tied to government interests. He is familiar with the cadence of federal investigations and the timing pressures that arise from grand juries, indictments and pretrial negotiations. That familiarity informs how he assesses risk and how he advises clients when federal statutes or regulations are implicated.

He has handled public-facing duties that required clear communication about legal process and outcomes. Those engagements often meant explaining complex legal decisions to audiences beyond the courtroom, including community groups and local leaders.

He currently practices law and handles matters arising under federal law.
