Barry Melton is a California attorney admitted to practice law in 1982. He holds and maintains an active license status. Mr. Melton is the founder of his own law firm, specializing in criminal defense, and is based in West Sacramento, California. He is admitted to practice before all courts in California, including the Central, Eastern, and Southern U.S. District Courts, as well as the U.S.
Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Additionally, he has been admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court for over 20 years. Mr. Melton is certified as a specialist in criminal law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He has been recognized with the highest professional rating (AV) by Martindale-Hubbell's peer review system.
His practice areas include DUI & DWI, entertainment and sports law, and general criminal defense. He has represented clients at various legal stages, including hearings, appeals, litigation, negotiations, and trials. He has served as the President of the California Public Defenders Association from 2006 to 2007 and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the association from 1999 to 2010. He is also a member of the Yolo County Bar Association and the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.
