About Barbara
Barbara Suskind completed her undergraduate studies at Antioch College (West), earning a B.A. in Social Welfare in 1972. She went on to law school at Golden Gate University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 1982. Those academic years framed a move into the California legal community. The progression from social welfare to law is evident in the subjects she pursued and the timing of her professional start. She finished law school the same year she gained admission to the bar.
She was admitted to practice in California in 1982 and maintains an active license. Since that time she has practiced law in the state and developed a practice that includes both advocacy and alternative dispute resolution. She established the Mediation/Law Offices of Barbara Suskind and conducts her work through that office. The practice name reflects two strands of her work: traditional family law representation and the facilitation of mediated resolutions.
Her credentials include a Family Law certification in Contra Costa from the California State Bar. That certification marks a sustained engagement with family law matters in the county and the surrounding region. Over the years her professional activities have included courtroom work as well as mediation sessions aimed at resolving disputes outside of trial. Her approach in practice leans on procedural knowledge and the use of mediation as a tool to reduce time and expense for clients while addressing family-related legal issues.
Today she continues to practice in California, serving clients through the Mediation/Law Offices of Barbara Suskind. She remains an active member of the state bar and carries the experience of decades of practice into each case she handles. Her work combines representation in family law matters with mediation services offered through her office. She currently practices family law and mediation in California.
