About B. F.
B. F. Godfrey built a steady legal career that began after law school in the 1970s. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1971 with a B.A. in Liberal Studies and earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1974. Those credentials led to a series of in-house counsel positions that shaped his practice.
His first notable corporate role came in 1978 when he joined Zale Corporation as corporate counsel. That post introduced him to the demands of corporate legal work in a national retail setting. In 1985 he moved into the restaurant industry as corporate counsel for TGI Fridays, and in 1993 he took a corporate counsel position at Darden Restaurants, Inc. The sequence of in-house roles gave him regular exposure to transactions, contracts and regulatory issues affecting large consumer-facing businesses.
In 1997 he entered private practice as Of Counsel at Bogin, Munns & Munns, P.A. He remained associated with that firm while broadening the scope of his work. In 2009 he founded Godfrey Legal and became owner. Since then he has operated his own practice, offering legal services informed by decades of corporate experience.
Godfrey’s professional affiliations reflect long-term civic and community involvement. He holds membership in the Texas Bar Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the Downtown YMCA. He has been active with the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival, including a past term as president of the Associate Board and service on the festival’s board. He also served as president of the Orlando Shakespeare Festival Guild and has held a board role with the British American Chamber of Commerce for Central Florida.
He is authorized to practice in both Texas and Florida. That bi-state admission mirrors the geographic arc of his career, which included corporate posts with national companies and later practice in the Southeast. His work history links retail and restaurant industry legal work to private practice advising.
Colleagues and clients have known him for a pragmatic approach to corporate issues and contract work. He has handled transactions and counseling for large consumer businesses and translated that in-house experience into outside counsel work. He currently concentrates his practice on corporate and commercial matters for businesses.
