About Astrid M.

Astrid M. Bismarck trained in Miami and has spent much of her career practicing family law there. She earned a B.A. from the University of Miami in 1979 and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1984. Those years set the stage for a long involvement in family-court processes and dispute resolution.

She established her practice under the name Astrid M. Bismarck, P.A. in 1997. Over the following decades she built a practice that blends courtroom work and mediated settlements. She is admitted in the 11th Circuit and is a certified Family Law Mediator through an Alternative Dispute Resolution program. Those credentials inform how she approaches custody, divorce, and parenting-time matters.

Her professional life has included service in collegial and policy-making settings. She served on the Family Law Rules Committee from 2014 to 2017, a role that involved reviewing procedural rules affecting family-court practice. She is a current member of the First Family Law American Inns of Court and the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She has also been active with the Collaborative Family Law Institute since 2007, engaging with peers on nonadversarial methods of resolving family disputes.

Outside the courthouse she has combined legal work with involvement in child-focused organizations. She has been on the advisory board of The Inter-American Law Review and became involved with KidSide, Inc. in 2013. She served as president of KidSide from 2015 to 2016. Those roles reflect an ongoing interest in how legal processes affect children and families.

Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in settlement talks and thorough in preparation for contested hearings. She has handled matters that require negotiation, mediation, and litigation. In mediation she relies on her certification and years of practical experience to guide parents toward workable agreements. When a case turns to motion practice or trial, she brings that same familiarity with family-court procedure to bear.

Her office continues to serve clients under the name Astrid M. Bismarck, P.A. The practice handles divorce, child custody, parenting plans, and related family-law matters, combining mediation services and courtroom representation. She currently concentrates her practice on family law and family mediation.
