About Ashley L.
Ashley L. Johnson built a path to law that began in classrooms and offices rather than courtrooms. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications, with a minor in Paralegal Studies, from Drexel University in 2011. Seven years later she returned to Drexel for her law degree, receiving a J.D. from Drexel University School of Law in 2018. The combination of communications training and early paralegal work shaped an orderly approach to case preparation and client contact.
Her early work put her inside law offices and court settings. In 2011 she served as a legal secretary and office manager at the Law Office of Nino V. Tinari & Associates. That role was followed by work as a court reporter for Sargent’s Court Reporting Service in 2012, where she spent hours in proceedings and learned the rhythms of testimony. In 2013 she joined Family Design Resources as a paralegal for the Statewide and Adoption Network Legal Services Initiative. Those positions offered hands-on time with filings, client interviews and the day-to-day mechanics of legal practice.
While she was finishing law school Ashley took on both law clerk and lawyer roles at Berner Klaw & Watson LLP in 2017. Those titles reflect the transitional work many law students do—researching, drafting and helping manage files as they move toward licensure. After earning her J.D. she continued her professional work around Pennsylvania, practicing in the state where she is licensed.
Colleagues describe her as organized and steady. She prefers clear files and plain language in client communications. Her background in communications and paralegal studies gives her a practical eye for how documents read and how clients experience a case. Time spent as a court reporter also informs how she prepares witnesses and organizes testimony.
Her career reads as a series of practical steps rather than dramatic leaps. Each role added a piece: office management taught clerical systems, court reporting provided courtroom familiarity, paralegal work offered substantive file experience, and the law clerk and attorney positions brought responsibility for legal analysis. She moved through those roles in a way that kept client work at the center.
Today she practices at Berner Klaw & Watson LLP, representing clients in matters handled through the firm’s Pennsylvania office. She currently practices law at Berner Klaw & Watson LLP, handling cases for clients in Pennsylvania.
