About Ashley Edgar

Ashley Edgar Waters combined scientific and political studies early in her academic life and later added business and law degrees. She earned a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University in 2006, where her coursework included political science, biology and chemistry. She moved on to the University of Mississippi for an MBA, conferred in 2007, and completed her legal studies at Nashville School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2013.

Her transition into the legal community began in the early 2010s. She joined the Tennessee Bar Association and the American Bar Association in 2012 and became active in the Upper Cumberland Young Lawyers Association the same year. Those memberships coincided with civic work in Cookeville. Since 2012 she has been involved with the Cookeville Christmas Parade Committee and the Jeans & Bling Committee. She also holds membership in Kiwanis, which she joined in 2014. For a period from 2013 to 2014 she was listed with the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women.

Waters has balanced professional and community roles rather than a single, linear path. Her academic background spans natural science, public affairs and business administration, and she brought those perspectives into practice after law school. Public records list her as associated with Waters Law. Her involvement in local committees reflects an interest in civic events and community organization as part of her broader professional life.

Colleagues and local contacts describe her as steady and engaged in the local bar associations. She has maintained active participation in bar-related organizations since the start of her legal career. That steady engagement has kept her connected to developments within Tennessee’s legal community and to colleagues across the state.

Outside legal associations, Waters’s participation in civic committees signals an ongoing link to her community in Upper Cumberland and Cookeville. She has worked alongside volunteer committees that stage public events and fundraisers, roles that require coordination and public-facing communication.

She is currently practicing law at Waters Law and is based in Tennessee, representing clients and providing counsel in matters arising under state law.
