About Asel
Asel Mukambetova earned an LL.M. in immigration law from Columbia Law School in 2017. The graduate degree followed earlier legal training and gave her a deep look at the statutes, regulations and courtroom practices that shape immigration practice in the United States. Columbia’s program is widely used by lawyers and scholars who want concentrated study of immigration law, and Mukambetova completed that program in 2017.
She began practicing in New York in 2018. Records list her as an immigration lawyer at the Law Office of Asel Mukambetova that year, and she has maintained that practice since. Working from a small office, she has handled matters that arise in a busy immigration jurisdiction. Her work has taken place under New York jurisdiction and she holds membership in the State Bar of New York.
Mukambetova’s academic training in immigration law informs the work she does for clients. The LL.M. emphasized statutory interpretation and administrative procedures, and she has applied that training to the routine demands of immigration practice. Her caseload has involved the types of filings, hearings and paperwork that immigration lawyers in New York encounter, and she has worked to translate complex rules into clear options for people who must make urgent decisions about status, family unity and travel.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with Mukambetova describe her approach as practical and detail-oriented. She handles client interviews, document preparation and representation in administrative settings. The Law Office of Asel Mukambetova operates in a field that often requires quick responses to changing rules and deadlines. Mukambetova has organized her practice to respond to those pressures while keeping cases moving toward resolution.
Outside the office, she remains connected to the wider New York legal community through her State Bar membership. That affiliation gives her access to professional resources and continuing legal education specific to immigration matters. She continues to update her knowledge as federal and state immigration policies evolve.
