About Arunima

Arunima Datta earned an LL.M. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2007. She moved into U.S. legal practice after completing that degree. Her academic year in Cleveland sits at the start of a steady climb through litigation support and immigration practice.

She began her legal career in paralegal roles. In 2007 she worked at Michael Phulwani P. C., and in 2009 she moved to BENNU Legal Services NFP. By 2012 she had experience at two different firms, Khurana Law Office LLC and Leavy Frank & Delaney LLC. Those early years were marked by hands-on case work and the paperwork that keeps cases moving.

That practical grounding led to further paralegal positions. In 2014 she joined Butzel Long and in 2015 she became a senior paralegal at Saltzman & Evinch, PLLC. Her responsibilities broadened in that role and continued to expand until 2020, when she shifted from senior paralegal to a senior lawyer position at Saltzman & Evinch. Later in 2020 she founded AKT LAW, LLC and took on the role of managing lawyer.

Datta holds bar admission in West Bengal, India, and is a member of the Alabama State Bar. She also maintains membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Her professional standing reflects both international and U.S. credentials, and she handles immigration law matters originating from all 50 states.

Her practice combines courtroom filings, client counseling, and administrative work before immigration agencies. The earlier paralegal work gave her familiarity with file preparation, evidentiary records, and procedural deadlines. As a lawyer she moved into drafting pleadings, preparing petitions, and representing clients on immigration matters that often involve cross-jurisdictional issues.

In founding AKT LAW, LLC, Datta took on the administrative and strategic tasks of running a small firm while keeping client work at the center of her calendar. She balances case management with direct client contact and the administrative demands that come with leading a law office. Her career path shows a steady progression from support roles to leadership.

She currently practices through AKT LAW, LLC, where her work centers on immigration cases filed across the United States and matters that draw on her international and domestic credentials. Her current practice focus is immigration law matters for clients from all 50 states.
