About Armen N.

Armen N. Nercessian built an unusual academic foundation before entering law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a separate concentration in Drama from Tufts University in 2005. Seven years later he completed his legal studies at New York University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2012. Those two degrees give a clear sense of how he approaches problems: technically minded and attentive to presentation.

After law school Nercessian moved into private practice. He is admitted to practice in California and has been associated with Fenwick & West LLP. The firm is known for work in areas that intersect with technology and business, and Nercessian’s background in engineering speaks to a comfort with technical subject matter. He applies an analytical approach that traces back to undergraduate engineering training, while his study of drama contributes to courtroom presence and client communication.

At Fenwick & West LLP he has worked alongside colleagues on matters typical of a large, multi-disciplinary law firm. His role has involved drafting, advising and counseling on legal issues that often require translating technical concepts into clear legal terms. He handles written advocacy and client counseling in a setting where technical literacy matters. Colleagues describe him as methodical in research and precise in written work.

His path from an electrical engineering undergraduate degree and drama study to NYU Law shapes how he frames legal problems. The combination yields an ability to parse technical documentation and to explain complex points in accessible language. That mix also informs how he prepares for hearings and negotiations, balancing detailed factual analysis with persuasive presentation. Clients who work in technical fields often need counsel who understands both engineering concepts and legal risk; Nercessian’s résumé provides that alignment.

Outside his direct casework, he engages in the routine demands of firm practice: managing client relationships, coordinating with subject-matter experts and producing the kinds of briefings and opinions that corporate clients expect. He continues to practice in California through Fenwick & West LLP. His current practice draws on both technical training and legal education, handling matters that require translating engineering concepts into legal strategy.
