About Antonio
Antonio Gastelum built a practice that moves across a border and two legal systems. He trained first in Mexico, earning an LL.B. from Universidad de Monterrey in 1989, and then pursued graduate legal studies in the United States, completing an LL.M. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1995. Those formative years set the groundwork for a career spanning both jurisdictions.
He is authorized to practice in Mexico and in Texas. His membership in the State Bar of Texas is current, and he maintains professional ties on both sides of the border. The sequence of degrees — Mexican law first, then U.S. postgraduate study — is reflected in the structure of his practice. It combines an understanding of Mexican legal institutions with knowledge of U.S. commercial and regulatory frameworks.
Gastelum’s work is concentrated on matters that require cross-border attention. He advises companies on commercial transactions that touch both Mexico and Texas, handles corporate governance questions that play out across national lines, and addresses regulatory concerns where differences in law must be reconciled. Cases often require translating legal concepts between systems, preparing documentation that satisfies two sets of requirements, and coordinating counsel in different locales.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He breaks complex issues into manageable parts and focuses on delivering practical options to clients. That style is useful when dealing with multinational contracts, import-export arrangements, and compliance reviews. He also counsels clients on structuring operations to align with local regulations in Mexico and the United States.
Gastelum is a principal at MEG International Counsel, PC. At the firm he works with business clients, in-house counsel, and other law firms that need assistance on binational matters. The firm’s practice reflects the bilingual, bicultural dimension of his training and his professional network.
Outside the office he stays engaged with developments in cross-border commerce and regulatory change. He monitors shifts in trade policy and administrative practice that affect transactions between Mexico and the United States. Today he continues to serve clients through MEG International Counsel, PC, focusing on cross-border corporate and regulatory matters.
