About Anthony
Anthony Li earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2018 after completing a B.A. at Gonzaga University in 2014. He also completed a Criminal Law Certificate at Lewis & Clark, an academic credential that informed his early work in public defense and innocence advocacy.
Li began spending time in court and clinics while still in law school. In 2016 he worked as a law clerk for a Federal Public Defender, and the following year he served as a legal extern with the Oregon Innocence Project. Those placements exposed him to appellate and post-conviction work as well as the practical realities of trial preparation.
After passing the bar in Oregon, Li joined Janet Hoffman & Associates in 2018. He handled a range of criminal matters there, moving from entry-level litigation tasks to taking responsibility for client interviews and courtroom appearances. In 2021 he moved to Reynolds Defense Firm as an associate lawyer, where he has continued to handle criminal defense matters in state and federal courts.
Li is licensed in both Oregon and Washington. He holds membership in the Oregon State Bar since 2018 and joined the Washington State Bar in 2022. He is also active in professional organizations that focus on defense and criminal justice issues. He has been a member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2018, and he belongs to the Multnomah Bar Association. Since 2019 he has served on the board of the Oregon chapter of the American Constitution Society.
Colleagues describe Li as methodical in his courtroom preparation and clear in his client communications. He has worked on cases that required review of post-conviction records and collaboration with investigators and mitigation specialists. His foundation in public defense work during law school and his early clerkship experience inform how he approaches case strategy and client counseling.
Outside of court, Li has continued to engage with professional groups and to attend trainings related to criminal law practice. He keeps an active practice in both Oregon and Washington courts and balances litigation with research and motion practice. He is based at Reynolds Defense Firm and appears in state and federal dockets as needed.
He currently practices criminal defense at Reynolds Defense Firm, representing clients in Oregon and Washington.
