About Anthony
Anthony Garilli entered law after a varied career that began in the military. He earned a B.A. from Excelsior College and went on to receive his J.D. from Chapman University. Those degrees set the stage for a shift from uniform to courtroom.
Garilli served in the United States Marine Corps and reached the rank of sergeant in 1994. The experience gave him early exposure to disciplined, hierarchical environments and to situations that require clear legal and factual thinking. After leaving active service he pursued legal training and entered public service as a prosecutor.
In 2011 Garilli worked as a Deputy District Attorney for El Dorado County. In that role he handled criminal matters for the county, gaining courtroom experience and familiarity with trial procedures. His time in the district attorney’s office acquainted him with case preparation, witness handling and the pressures of public prosecution.
Garilli later moved into private practice and is now a lawyer at Kershaw, Cook & Talley. At the firm he practices civil litigation. His memberships reflect that trajectory: he is a current member of the Sacramento County Bar Association, the Consumer Lawyers of California, the American Association for Justice and the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations place him in organizations that emphasize trial work and consumer protection litigation.
Colleagues describe Garilli as methodical in his preparation and steady at trial. He brings prosecutorial experience to civil matters and applies courtroom skills learned in public service to private disputes. He has handled matters that involve evidence-intensive litigation and client-facing advocacy. He approaches case strategy by first assessing fact patterns and then planning the steps necessary to develop proof and testimony.
Outside of court he has engaged with local bar activities and professional groups in the Sacramento area. That involvement keeps him connected to developments in civil practice and to peers who focus on trial work.
He currently practices at Kershaw, Cook & Talley, where he represents clients in civil litigation, including consumer law and personal injury matters.
