About Anson Houston

Anson Houston Asbury built his legal foundation in the classroom. He earned a B.A. from Villanova University in 1988. He completed a J.D. at Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law in 1995. A decade later he returned to formal study and received an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002.

After law school he established the credentials that would support practice across several jurisdictions. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New York and Georgia, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions have shaped the range of matters he takes on and the courtrooms where he represents clients.

He has been active in professional legal circles for many years. Since 2008 he has served as a Barrister with the J. Edgar Murdock American Inns of Court at the U.S. Tax Court, a role that places him among attorneys who study and discuss trial and appellate practice in tax matters. In 2011 he founded Asbury Law Office and has led that firm since its creation.

The arc of his training and memberships points toward tax law and related areas. His LL.M. in Taxation informs advice on federal and state tax issues, from planning to controversy. Admission to the U.S. Supreme Court and multiple state bars gives him the ability to handle matters that require appellate or multi-jurisdictional attention. He also handles matters that intersect with regulatory compliance and civil litigation when tax questions are involved.

Colleagues describe him as someone who combines technical tax training with courtroom experience. He draws on academic study and practical work when advising clients and when appearing before administrative tribunals or state and federal courts. He participates in continuing legal education and professional discussion through the Inns of Court, and he remains involved in the community of tax practitioners around the U.S. Tax Court.

Asbury runs a small firm that serves individuals and businesses confronting tax controversies, planning needs, and related disputes. He publishes and speaks occasionally on tax developments and practice issues, and he continues to accept cases that require attention at the state or federal level. He now leads Asbury Law Office, where his practice centers on tax law, regulatory matters, and related civil litigation.
