About Anne Frances
Anne Frances Borghetti built a law career that began in classrooms and moved quickly into courtrooms. She earned her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1985, completed an associate degree in business administration at St. Petersburg College the same year, took the Legal Assistant Program at Boston University, and later received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida in 1987. Those years provided formal legal training and a grounding in business principles that inform how she manages a practice and handles cases.
Her early work included time at the Pinellas County Public Defender’s Office, where she served as a lawyer starting in 1990. That role placed her in front of judges and juries on a frequent basis. Trials, plea negotiations and courtroom procedure became daily tasks. She moved into private practice in 1995 under the name Anne F. Borghetti, P.A., establishing a firm that handled criminal matters and represented individuals charged in state and federal courts.
Borghetti’s practice spans trial and appellate work. She is admitted to practice in Florida and Massachusetts and before several federal courts and circuits, including the 11th Circuit, the 1st Circuit, the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. She also serves as a certified circuit and federal civil court mediator through DRC. Her background as a former public defender informs her approach to case preparation and courtroom presentation.
Over the years she has kept active in professional groups tied to criminal defense and trial practice. She holds memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Federal Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Locally, she belongs to the Pinellas County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and participates in the Herbert G. Goldburg Criminal Law Inns of Court, where she has been active since 2000.
Her nonprofit and community involvement includes a seat on the board of directors of PARC, the Pinellas Association for Retarded Children, a role she has held since 2008. She is a member of PFAWL-FAWL, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and its Pinellas chapter. These activities reflect a sustained engagement with both the legal community and local civic causes.
Borghetti maintains offices in Clearwater and Pinellas Park and accepts appointments in Tampa. She continues to represent clients in criminal matters and related civil proceedings, and she remains active in mediation and appellate work as part of her current practice focus.
