About Anne Elizabeth
Anne Elizabeth Ohlrich built a career that moves between public service, the classroom and private practice. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of the Incarnate Word in 1992. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1998. Those academic choices set a clear path toward law and international work.
Her earliest post-law school role was overseas. In 1999 she served as a consular officer and visa chief for the U.S. Department of State. The position placed her at the intersection of immigration law and foreign policy. She handled visa adjudications and consular duties that require both legal judgment and diplomatic poise. That work informed her view of immigration systems as both legal frameworks and human processes.
By 2005 she had added teaching to her resume. She joined St. Mary’s University and later taught as an adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law. Her classroom time covered immigration-related topics and helped bridge academic theory with everyday practice. Students remember her for practical examples drawn from consular work and courtroom reality.
In 2010 she became a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The affiliation connected her to national conversations about policy and practice. Two years later she moved into private practice and opened The Ohlrich Law Office in 2012. As owner, she navigated the business side of running a small firm while continuing to represent clients in immigration matters.
Her practice centers on immigration law. Over the years she has handled cases that range from visas and consular processing to relief available through the immigration courts. Her background at the State Department and in academia informs how she frames cases and strategies. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical; clients often cite the clarity she brings to complex procedures.
Ohlrich continues to split time between counsel work and education. She keeps ties to academic circles and professional networks, contributing to discussions on policy and practice when opportunities arise. The Ohlrich Law Office serves clients in Texas on a spectrum of immigration matters. She now maintains a practice that prioritizes immigration law work.
