About Annasara G.

Annasara G. Purcell grew up studying politics and history, then turned those interests into a legal career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis in 2006, double-majoring in Political Science and African-American and African Studies. Five years later she received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2011.

Her education reflects a mix of broad liberal arts training and rigorous legal training. At Washington University she explored race, institutions and public policy. At Stanford she entered a law school known for its ties to the technology sector and its emphasis on practical skills. Those experiences set the stage for work that crosses state lines and institutional boundaries.

After law school she joined Fenwick & West LLP, where she has practiced since. Her time there has included representation of clients in matters filed in both Washington and California. She holds licenses to practice in both of those jurisdictions. Colleagues describe her as precise in courtroom filings and deliberate in preparing matters for hearing.

Purcell’s background in political science and African-American studies gives her a particular perspective on cases that touch on institutional and regulatory questions. She has worked on matters that require attention to procedural detail and careful factual development. She is comfortable in litigation settings, and she also handles pre-litigation steps, including client counseling and dispute resolution efforts.

Clients and peers note that she brings steady analysis to complex files. She breaks problems into discrete tasks. She writes plainly, and she does the groundwork necessary to support courtroom arguments and negotiations alike. On multi-jurisdiction matters she coordinates filings and strategy across state lines, ensuring that work in one forum complements work in another.

Outside the office, she remains connected to the academic and civic conversations that shaped her undergraduate studies. She follows developments in law and public policy closely and applies that context to her practice. She continues to build a portfolio of work at Fenwick & West LLP, handling matters across Washington and California courts and agencies.

She currently practices at Fenwick & West LLP, where her work focuses on legal matters in Washington and California.
