Angela M. Bean is a retired attorney who was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1984, holding bar number 112787. She was a senior partner at Angela M. Bean + Associates, a law firm specializing in immigration law, located in Oakland, California. Ms. Bean's practice encompassed various aspects of immigration law, including family and employment-based immigration, citizenship, green card applications, removal and deportation defense, and providing expert immigration advice to non-citizens facing obstacles due to criminal arrests and convictions. She was also certified in Immigration & Nationality Law by the California State Bar.
Ms. Bean earned her Juris Doctor degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Women's Studies and History. During her time at Golden Gate University, she clerked for California Supreme Court Justice Cruz Reynoso as a judicial extern. After law school, she was awarded a Revson Fellowship by the Women's Law and Public Policy Program at Georgetown University, where she interned at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) in Washington, D.C.
Throughout her career, Ms. Bean focused on immigration law, representing clients in various legal stages, including hearings, appeals, litigation, negotiations, and trials. She handled cases involving asylum, citizenship, deportation defense, family visas, green cards, immigration appeals, investment visas, marriage and fiancé(e) visas, student visas, visitor visas, and work visas. Ms. Bean was admitted to practice before several courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She was a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and served on various local and national leadership positions, liaison committees, and spoken at numerous national and state conferences. She also served as the past chair of the Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission of the California State Bar's Board of Legal Specialization from 1994 to 1997.
In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Bean was recognized by Super Lawyers from 2004 to 2024. She was fluent in both English and Spanish, enabling her to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
