About Angel Castillo
Angel Castillo Jr. combines decades of formal legal training with long service in federal and state courtrooms. He earned an LL.M. from Yale Law School in 1980, where he studied international and constitutional law. He holds a J.D. from the University of Florida (1978) and a B.A. in English Literature from Stetson University (1967). Those three degrees anchor a career that spans trial-level litigation and appellate work.
Early in his career Castillo gained credentials that allowed him to practice before a broad array of tribunals. He is admitted in Florida and has appeared in district and circuit courts across the country, including the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Fifth, Eleventh and First Circuits, the U.S. Supreme Court, and several federal district courts such as those in Miami, Tampa and Puerto Rico. That multi-jurisdictional admission profile has shaped the kinds of matters he has taken on and the strategic perspective he brings to cases.
In private practice Castillo has held senior roles at national firms. He served as a shareholder in Miami for Jackson Lewis and later for Ogletree Deakins. He has also worked of counsel at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. In those positions he handled litigation and federal filings and worked on cases that required coordination across courts and jurisdictions. Colleagues have relied on him for appellate briefing and courtroom representation where multiple venues were involved.
More recently Castillo joined Wald, Castillo & Wald, P.A., where he continues to practice. His practice has involved presenting arguments in district courts and in the courts of appeal where he is admitted. He combines appellate experience with hands-on case management at the trial level. He is experienced in drafting briefs for higher courts and in preparing records for appeal.
After more than four decades in law he stays active in litigation practice and remains registered to appear in the federal and state forums listed on his admission record. He currently practices at Wald, Castillo & Wald, P.A., handling matters that require admission across multiple federal and appellate courts.
