About Andrew Scott

Andrew Scott Buzin studied business and law in New York and Florida. He earned a B.S. in finance and management from New York University in 1996. He then returned to the University of Miami, completing both an MBA in taxation and a J.D. in 2003. That combination of business and legal training shapes how he approaches client problems.

After law school, Buzin entered practice at a time when tax and regulatory matters were growing more complex. He gained experience handling corporate and transactional matters that intersect tax and finance. Over the years he has advised clients on structuring transactions, regulatory compliance, and tax implications that affect deals and operations. He works on both transactional and advisory matters rather than courtroom litigation.

Buzin holds bar memberships in the District of Columbia and in New York. He joined the District of Columbia Bar in 2004 and became a member of the New York bar in 2007. Those admissions allow him to advise clients whose matters span both jurisdictions. He maintains an active standing in both bars and participates in the professional communities there.

Colleagues describe Buzin as methodical. He breaks complex problems into discrete issues. He pays attention to numbers and documents, and he places those details into the larger business context. That approach reflects his combined training in finance, management, taxation and law. It also informs how he communicates with in-house counsel, finance teams, and outside advisors.

Outside the office, he has kept ties to legal and business networks in Washington and New York. He has engaged in continuing legal education and stayed current on developments in tax law and corporate practice. He balances client work with professional development that helps him respond to shifting rules and market conditions.

Today Buzin is an active member of both the District of Columbia and New York bars. He advises clients on transaction structuring, tax-related issues, compliance questions and business-oriented legal problems. His current practice focuses on advising businesses and individuals on the tax and corporate aspects of transactions and regulatory matters.
