About Andrew Raider

Andrew Raider Wood brings an uncommon mix of academic scholarship and legal training to his work. He began his education at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a B.A., then continued to graduate study, receiving an M.A. from McGill University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed a certificate program at Oxford University and later earned a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. The sequence of degrees gives him a layered view of both theory and practice.

His career has followed that intellectual arc into law practice. He is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey, and he maintains memberships in professional groups including the New York City Bar Association and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. Those memberships place him in contact with practitioners across the city and with lawyers who handle legal issues for artists and cultural organizations.

Wood has moved between academic environments and client work. His doctoral training and a law degree inform the way he assesses problems. He reads statutory language and precedent closely. He also pays attention to the cultural context that often surrounds media and artistic disputes. Colleagues describe him as methodical in research and careful in crafting arguments.

At his practice, Wood Media Law, he applies that breadth of experience to legal questions tied to media and the arts. He advises individuals and organizations about legal risks that arise around creative work. That can include contract terms, licensing questions and other matters where commercial and expressive interests intersect. He has worked in environments that require both clear legal analysis and practical advice for clients who operate in cultural fields.

Outside of private practice, Wood participates in bar and arts-law groups. Those activities keep him connected to issues that affect creators, cultural institutions and media enterprises. He also engages with pro bono and volunteer initiatives through organizations aligned with arts and media communities. He balances client work with contribution to professional networks.

His academic background, combined with bar admission in two states, shapes his approach to cases and counseling. He practices at Wood Media Law and advises clients on legal issues related to media and the arts.
