About Andrew M
Andrew M Shaw earned his J.D. from Georgetown University in 2010. He entered the legal profession after law school and built a practice grounded in court work and family law. His education at a national law school exposed him to litigation and appellate rules, which later shaped his approach to courtroom procedure and case management.
His early post‑graduate work included a judicial law clerkship in 2013 at the Superior Court of New Jersey. The clerkship placed him at the center of trial court operations. He worked on written opinions, reviewed evidence submissions and observed trials and hearings. That year of court-side experience gave him an inside view of judicial decision-making and practical courtroom routines.
In 2014 he joined DeTommaso Law Group as a partner. At the firm he handled family law matters and represented clients in contested and uncontested proceedings. He spent those years litigating custody and support disputes, conducting discovery and preparing for hearings. The partnership role also required business responsibilities—managing client relationships and mentoring junior attorneys.
In 2019 he became the managing lawyer at Shaw Divorce & Family Law LLC. In that capacity he oversees case intake, prepares litigation strategies and represents clients through trial and settlement. He manages the office’s daily operations and a caseload that includes divorce, custody, equitable distribution and related family law issues. His responsibilities combine courtroom advocacy with the administrative work of running a small firm.
He is licensed to practice in New Jersey and admitted to the Federal Circuit. His bar memberships include the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and its Family Law Section, where he maintains current membership. Those affiliations keep him connected to local practice trends and provide forums for continuing legal education and professional exchange.
Colleagues and clients have noted his steadiness in courtroom settings and his preference for practical solutions over grand strategies. He has moved through roles that emphasize both adjudicative procedure and client service. His current practice focuses on divorce and family law matters in New Jersey and on handling related appeals and filings in the Federal Circuit.
