About Andrew B.
Andrew B. Wachler built his legal foundation in Michigan. He earned a B.S. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1974, concentrating in health care law, and completed his J.D. at Wayne State University Law School in 1978 with the same concentration. Those early years set the course for a long career tied to health care matters and the courts that hear them.
Fresh out of law school he joined Frimet, Bellamy & Gilchrist as an associate. That first professional post gave him exposure to firm life and the practical demands of representing clients in a regulated industry. Six years later he took on a leadership role at Wachler & Associates, P.C., becoming managing partner in 1984. He has remained at that firm, guiding its work and managing its operations while maintaining a steady practice.
Wachler is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Those credentials have allowed him to serve clients at both the state and federal levels. Over the decades his work has intersected with the shifting regulatory landscape that governs health care providers, institutions and related organizations.
A regular participant in professional circles, he holds memberships in the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association Health Law Section, the State Bar of Michigan and its Health Care Law Section, and the Oakland County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Medical Group Management Association. These affiliations reflect the professional networks he draws on for updates in policy, regulation and industry practice.
Colleagues describe him as steady and experienced in the practical mechanics of running a law practice that serves health care clients. He has managed the balance between leading a firm and attending to client matters, often dealing with complex, detail-oriented issues that require both legal and operational understanding. He also navigates procedural requirements in federal court when cases require it.
Wachler continues to practice at Wachler & Associates, P.C. His current work centers on matters arising from the health care sector and the legal issues those organizations face today.
