About Andrei
Andrei Romanenko studied language and law on parallel tracks before settling into immigration practice. He earned a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2011 and holds a Certificate of Specialization in Business Law from Berkeley. Earlier he completed a B.A. in Japanese at San Francisco State University in 2007.
His early legal work included public defense and nonprofit immigration support. In 2009 he served as a law clerk in the Contra Costa County Office of the Public Defender. The following year he worked as a law clerk for the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. Those roles exposed him to courtroom procedure and the day-to-day problems faced by noncitizen clients.
After law school he moved into private practice and short-term contracts at larger firms. In 2012 he took on a contract role at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP and also worked that year at the Law Offices of Dominic Capeci and the Law Offices of Robert Baker. He then joined Kerosky, Purves & Bogue in 2013. In 2015 he opened the Law Office of Andrei Romanenko, where he has maintained a practice focused on complex immigration matters.
Romanenko is certified as a Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. That certification signals formal recognition of specialist training and experience in federal immigration law and procedure. He is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a membership he has held since 2014, which keeps him engaged with ongoing changes in immigration practice and policy.
He is authorized to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which allows him to represent clients in federal appellate matters originating in the region. His caseload has included family-based petitions, removal defense, naturalization issues and employer-based immigration work. Colleagues and clients describe him as meticulous in case preparation and pragmatic in courtroom settings.
Based in San Francisco, Romanenko operates an immigration office that serves individuals, families and small businesses. He continues to handle matters that span administrative hearings and federal appeals. His current practice concentrates on immigration law matters in the San Francisco area and before federal courts and agencies.
