About Amy N.

Amy N. Fowler trained first as a scientist and later as a lawyer. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Seattle University in 2000. She returned to Utah for legal studies and received her J.D. from the University of Utah in 2011.

Her early legal work put her inside a public defense office. In 2014 she joined the Salt Lake Legal Defender Association, where she represented clients in court and learned how public systems operate from the inside. That experience shaped how she approached casework and client counseling in the years that followed.

Fowler shifted some of her attention to public service in 2018, serving on the Salt Lake City Corporation as a councilwoman. The role widened her experience in municipal decision-making and local policy. It also gave her day-to-day practice experience interacting with city officials, constituents, and staff on matters that ranged from ordinances to constituent services.

In 2019 she founded Fowler Venable Law. As owner, she has overseen the office’s legal matters and administrative responsibilities. Running a small firm added a new set of tasks: business operations, client intake, and case management. Those duties sit alongside the courtroom and policy work she has handled throughout her career.

Outside of paid roles, Fowler has been active in the legal community. She co-founded LGBT & Allied Lawyers of Utah in 2014 and has served as its immediate past president. That organization work has kept her engaged in bar association activities and in efforts to create professional networks among attorneys across the state.

Her career combines public defense experience, municipal government service, and private practice management. She has moved between courtroom advocacy and local government, bringing practical knowledge from each setting back to her legal work. Colleagues and clients see a practitioner who reads both statutes and municipal codes and who understands how public institutions operate.

She continues to lead Fowler Venable Law and remains licensed to practice in Utah. Her practice focuses on serving individuals and public entities in matters that reflect her background in public defense and local government.
