About Amy

Amy Long earned her Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in 2002. She completed a curriculum that combined classroom work with practical exercises at a time when immigration and international issues were receiving growing attention in legal education. The law degree provided the credential she would build a career upon.

Her professional path crosses two state bars. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Virginia. Those admissions allow her to appear in courts and handle matters across two separate legal communities. She has navigated the procedural differences that come with practicing in two jurisdictions and has cultivated a working knowledge of both state systems.

Long has maintained a long-standing relationship with the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She joined AILA in 2008 and has continued her membership through the present. That sustained affiliation suggests an ongoing engagement with developments in immigration law, training programs and the professional network that AILA provides. The membership reflects a professional interest aligned with immigration practice and the policy issues that affect clients in that area.

Colleagues describe her approach as practical and detail-oriented. She prefers clear writing and careful preparation. Those habits are well suited to matters that require attention to statutory timelines, evidentiary detail and client communication. Over the years she has balanced the demands of casework with continuing legal education and association activities.

Long’s career path has not been limited to a single location. Practicing across Massachusetts and Virginia has meant building relationships with local court staff, opposing counsel and community organizations in different regions. It has also meant staying current on state-specific rules and procedural changes that affect how cases are filed and argued.

As of 2026 she maintains her practice across Massachusetts and Virginia and works on immigration matters.
