About Amy A.

Amy A. Taylor earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2001 and is licensed to practice in Maryland. She built her early career in firm settings before branching into private practice and public service.

Her first recorded post-law school role was as an associate at Parker, White, Shaver, Martin & Walker in 2003. There she worked on litigation matters and gained experience in case preparation and court procedure. The position provided a traditional firm foundation early in her career.

In 2006 Taylor opened a solo practice under the name Amy Alexzandra Taylor, Lawyer at Law. That same year she served as an EEO consultant for Bashen Consulting, advising on employment discrimination and workplace investigations. The combination of solo practice and consulting broadened the range of work she handled and exposed her to both client advocacy and compliance issues.

She later took contract work in 2008 at Howrey LLP, where she performed temporary assignments that supported larger litigation teams. Those contract roles often involved drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and supporting trial preparation on complex matters.

In 2010 Taylor joined the Maryland Office of the Public Defender as an Assistant Public Defender Level I. In that capacity she represented indigent clients in criminal proceedings, handled misdemeanor and felony caseloads, and appeared in court on arraignments, hearings, and trials. The public defender role added significant courtroom experience and direct client representation under demanding time constraints.

Across these roles—firm associate, solo practitioner, EEO consultant, contract lawyer, and public defender—Taylor has combined litigation work with employment-related matters and criminal defense. She has worked on investigations, negotiated resolutions, and taken cases to court when necessary. Colleagues and clients have encountered her in both courtroom and advisory settings.

Taylor continues to practice law in Maryland. She balances litigation and advisory work, drawing on experience from private practice, consulting, and public defense. She currently focuses her practice on criminal defense, employment law, and civil litigation.
