About Amanda Stephens

Amanda Stephens Bourgeois is an attorney at Kean Miller LLP who practices in Louisiana and in the federal courts that serve the state. She is admitted to the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and to the Louisiana bar. Her career spans private firm practice in Baton Rouge and work before both trial and appellate tribunals.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University in 2006. She returned to LSU for law school and received her J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 2010. The academic path through LSU kept her rooted in the state’s legal community from undergraduate study through her entry into the bar.

Bourgeois began her legal practice immediately after law school. In 2010 she worked at the firm Guglielmo, Marks, Schutte, Terhoeve & Love, where she gained early experience in firm-based legal work. Two years later she joined Kean Miller LLP as an associate, a move that placed her within a larger regional practice and expanded the types of matters she handled. Her work since then has included matters filed in state and federal courts that serve Louisiana.

She maintains active membership in several professional organizations. She belongs to the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Those memberships reflect ongoing engagement with peers across local, state and national levels of the profession.

Bourgeois’s admissions to multiple federal district courts and to the Fifth Circuit permit courtroom appearances at both trial and appellate levels. That access informs the kinds of filings and courtroom work she accepts, and it shapes how she advises clients about procedural options in litigation. Colleagues describe her as steady and practical in courtroom settings and in written advocacy.

Her trajectory from LSU undergraduate to law school graduate and then into private practice has been steady and focused on litigation access in Louisiana and its federal courts. She continues to practice at Kean Miller LLP, where her current practice focuses on matters in both federal and state courts.
