About Amanda

Amanda DeBerry built a professional path that blends courtroom work, bar leadership and classroom-honed analysis. She arrived at law school after a political science degree and left with a clear sense of the kinds of disputes she wanted to handle.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Texas A&M University in 2008. She then attended the College of William and Mary, where she received her Juris Doctor in 2012. Those years framed her legal training and introduced her to bankruptcy and commercial law topics that would recur in her later practice.

Her career has unfolded in Virginia and Texas, the two jurisdictions where she is licensed to practice. Early on she moved into roles that combined client work and professional service. She joined local and state bar groups and took on committee work that placed her in the center of practice-area conversations. Members of those groups remember her as methodical and steady in committee settings.

DeBerry has been active in bar governance for several years. She served as chair of the Richmond Bar Association Young Lawyers Section from 2018 to 2019. She has also been a member of the Richmond Bar Association Executive Committee since 2017. At the Virginia Bar Association she joined the Bankruptcy Section Executive Committee in 2020 and continues in that capacity. Those roles involve organizing programs, mentoring newer attorneys and contributing to policy discussions that affect bankruptcy practice across the state.

The recurring theme in her work is bankruptcy and creditor-debtor matters. Her committee service in the VBA Bankruptcy Section reflects that interest. She handles a range of bankruptcy-related tasks. Those include advising individuals and businesses, preparing filings and representing clients in hearings. Colleagues describe her advocacy as focused on clear legal reasoning and respectful courtroom presentation.

At the practice level she is based at Boleman Law Office, P.C. There she works on cases that bring together procedural knowledge and client counseling. Her day-to-day practice balances contested matters and negotiated resolutions. She also continues to participate in bar education and mentoring programs, particularly for young lawyers in Richmond.

She currently practices bankruptcy and related creditor-debtor matters at Boleman Law Office, P.C.
