About Alycia E
Alycia E. Stack earned her law degree from American University in 2009 after completing undergraduate studies in political science at Kenyon College in 2006. She spent her undergraduate years studying governance and public affairs and moved quickly into public-interest law after graduation from law school.
Her first position after law school was as a staff lawyer at the Southern Maryland Center for Family Advocacy in 2009. That early work put her in direct contact with clients facing custody, support and protective-order matters. In 2014 she joined Maryland Legal Aid as a staff lawyer, representing low-income clients in a range of civil matters. In 2018 she became a partner at Williams, McClernan, & Stack LLC, a small firm where she brought her public-interest background into private practice.
Stack’s career shows a steady emphasis on cases that touch family systems and public benefits. Years spent at a family advocacy center and at Maryland Legal Aid shaped the kinds of cases she takes and the way she approaches them. She practices in Maryland and is active in local legal circles, combining courtroom experience with client counseling and administrative work.
Outside the office she has been involved in county-level public service. From 2019 through 2022 she served on the Social Services Advisory Board for St. Mary’s County. During the same period she was a member of the steering committee for the Campaign for a Community Youth Center, a local initiative aimed at expanding youth services. She also holds memberships in the St. Mary’s County Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, and the Maryland State Bar Association.
Colleagues describe Stack as pragmatic and steady in handling contentious family and civil matters. She is known for clear communication and for helping clients understand procedural steps and options. Her work combines courtroom appearances, client counseling and coordination with social-service providers when cases raise broader family needs.
She practices at Williams, McClernan, & Stack LLC and continues to handle family law and civil legal aid matters in Maryland as part of her current practice focus.
