About Alvaro Augusto

Alvaro Augusto Acevedo has an academic background centered on tax law and public policy. He earned a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University and pursued advanced tax studies at Georgetown University Law Center, completing an LL.M. in Tax Law in 2019 and an executive certificate in International Tax Law. He also completed executive-level coursework at Harvard, including a program in Mastering Trade Policy in 2018 and studies in Comparative Tax Policy & Administration in 2014.

After completing his formal education, Acevedo moved into tax practice. In 2015 he began work at Brickell Law Group P.A. as a domestic and international tax lawyer. Early years at the firm involved a mix of compliance work, transactional advice and representation in disputes. He handled matters that crossed borders as well as routine tax matters for individuals and businesses.

His credentials extend beyond the law degree. Acevedo is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy. He is also a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute and a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist through the National Association of Tax Problem Solvers. Those credentials reflect training in both accounting and tax controversy techniques, and they supplement the legal tools he brings to client matters.

Acevedo is admitted to practice in Florida and before several federal tax and appellate venues, including the United States Tax Court, the 11th Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in tax litigation and appellate matters, as well as to interact with tax authorities and tribunals on procedural and substantive issues.

His practice covers a range of domestic and cross-border tax subjects. He advises on tax compliance and planning for businesses and individuals, supports transactional structuring, and assists clients in resolving disputes with tax authorities. He has taken cases to administrative hearings and court when necessary, and he works on documentation and reporting tasks that carry international implications.

At Brickell Law Group P.A., Acevedo continues to handle matters that bridge tax law and accounting. He combines formal tax study and professional certifications to advise clients on planning, compliance and controversy. He currently practices at Brickell Law Group P.A., concentrating on domestic and international tax issues and tax controversy matters.
