About Aliya
Aliya Alisheva trained in legal systems on two continents. She studied international law in Kazakhstan before completing a graduate law degree in California. The combination of civil law grounding and U.S. legal training shapes how she approaches cross-border matters.
She earned an LL.B. in International Law from Eurasian National University. Later she obtained an LL.M. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law. Those credentials inform both transactional work and immigration cases that touch on international norms and documentation.
Her early practice included a stint in 2010 at International Law Office "GRATA," a firm known for handling multinational matters. There she worked on matters that required coordination across jurisdictions and attention to regulatory differences. That experience helped bridge the gap between practice in Eurasia and practice in the United States.
After moving to California, Alisheva became active in the professional community. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2011 and holds membership in the California State Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in California and handles matters in state and federal forums.
Alisheva later established her own practice, Alisheva Law, where she serves as a lawyer. Her work includes immigration petitions, consular processing, naturalization matters, and legal issues that arise when clients move between countries for work or family reasons. She represents individuals before government agencies, prepares case filings, and advises on documentation and procedural strategy.
Colleagues describe her as precise in paperwork and methodical in preparing hearings. Clients seek her help for cases that require both an understanding of U.S. immigration rules and sensitivity to background facts that stem from other legal systems. She draws on classroom training and on-the-ground experience when preparing filings and oral arguments.
Outside of casework she participates in professional networks that keep her current on regulatory changes and administrative practice. Membership in AILA has provided access to continuing legal education and peer exchange dating back to 2011.
She practices from Alisheva Law in California, representing clients in immigration and related international legal matters. Her current practice focuses on immigration law and cross-border legal issues.
