About Alison
Alison Yew grew up studying law at the University of San Francisco School of Law and earned her J.D. in 1994. She entered practice soon after and has spent more than two decades working in California’s legal community. Her academic start set a steady pace for a career that moves between courtroom work, firm practice and private practice.
She began her legal career in 1994 as an associate at Jeffrey Chang & Associates. That early experience gave her exposure to client representation in a close-knit firm setting. In 1998 she took a position as a research lawyer at the Santa Clara County Superior Court. The court work deepened her familiarity with litigation procedure and the mechanics of judicial decision-making.
By 2000 she returned to firm practice as an associate at Vogl & Meredith. Five years later she joined Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith as a partner, taking on management responsibilities and handling a heavier caseload. The partnership role expanded her experience in firm operations and complex client matters.
In 2013 she launched her own practice, the Law Office of Alison Yew. Running a small firm has allowed her to control the client experience and to choose the matters she takes on. She maintains a main office from which she manages client work and case strategy.
Professional associations have been part of her career for many years. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s Northern California chapter since 2011. Since 2015 she has been active in BNI Business Network International and has served as vice president of her chapter. Those memberships reflect the networks she uses to connect with other lawyers and with local business communities.
Her practice is grounded in the procedural work she learned at the Santa Clara County Superior Court and the client-side advocacy she developed in private firms. She is licensed to practice in California and has navigated matters that require both litigation experience and transactional attention to detail.
Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in court and methodical in preparation. Clients value the clarity she brings to case strategy and documentation. Her current practice concentrates on immigration law and related matters handled through the Law Office of Alison Yew.
