About Alison

Alison Silber built her legal foundation at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a B.A. in 2005 after undergraduate study from 2001 to 2005. She returned to school at the University of Maryland - Baltimore, completing her J.D. in 2010 after attending from 2007 to 2010. The sequence of those studies set a straightforward course toward courtroom work and case handling in state and federal settings.

Her first professional role after law school was a Family Law Clerkship at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia in 2010. In that position she worked on family law dockets, assisted with research and drafted bench memoranda. The clerkship placed her inside the courtroom rhythm and exposed her to the procedural demands of contested hearings and case management.

Following the clerkship she gained admission to practice in several jurisdictions. She is licensed to practice in Maryland, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. She also maintains membership in professional organizations and participates in continuing legal education to stay current on procedural and statutory developments that affect family law practice.

Her legal work has emphasized matters that arise in domestic relations. The early encounter with family court shaped how she approaches client counseling and court preparation. She has handled contested matters and appearances for hearings, and she has worked on settlements and negotiated resolutions outside the courtroom when circumstances allow.

Clients and colleagues describe her style as straightforward and practical. She prefers clear options over legalese. She prepares written materials with an eye toward the judge’s needs and structures arguments so they address the controlling legal standards. That practical approach informs both negotiation strategies and courtroom presentations.

Though she has practiced across a few different forums, Alison Silber keeps a consistent professional interest in the kinds of disputes that come before family courts. She splits time between litigation tasks and alternative dispute resolution efforts, depending on the case. Her current practice centers on family law matters and representation in domestic relations proceedings.
