About Alicia
Alicia Hinton built a career that crosses technology and law. She returned to school after an early career in information systems, earning a J.D. from San Joaquin College of Law in 2009. Before that she completed a master’s degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution at Fresno Pacific University in 2008. Her academic record also includes a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management (1989) and a later Bachelor of Arts (2000) from the University of San Francisco, plus a project management certificate from the University of California, Santa Cruz (1993).
Her work history reflects that mixed background. In the mid-1990s she served as an IS manager responsible for software quality and compliance at LifeScan. After moving into legal studies she took on roles that bridged technology and law, including a contract position as an intellectual property specialist for Duncan Enterprises. Entry-level legal posts followed: intake analyst and office clerk at the Law Offices of Wagner, Jones, Kopfman & Artenian in 2011 and a law clerk internship at Central California Legal Services in 2013. She later became a staff attorney at that same nonprofit program, handling matters that typically arise in legal aid settings.
Hinton moved into private practice and plaintiff-side work in the mid-2010s. She worked at Kemnitzer Barron & Krieg in 2014 before establishing her own practice in 2016. She now runs the Law Office of A.L. Hinton and accepts matters in California and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. The progression from information systems to contract IP work and legal aid gives her an unusual mix of technical and courtroom experience.
Professional affiliations underline the practical emphases of her career. Hinton holds membership in the Fresno County Bar Association and belongs to national and state-level groups for consumer advocates and trial lawyers. Those memberships align with her work history in legal services and private plaintiff practice.
Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She draws on technical training when cases raise questions about data, software processes or compliance. At the same time, years in legal services inform how she handles individual client matters, particularly in consumer-related disputes.
She maintains a small firm structure that allows her to take direct responsibility for cases from intake through litigation. Her current practice concentrates on consumer protection and civil litigation.
