About Alice

Alice Yardum-Hunter is a seasoned immigration attorney based in Sherman Oaks, California, with over 30 years of dedicated experience in the field. Since founding her own practice in 1992, she has focused exclusively on immigration law. Her expertise encompasses many areas, including business immigration, extraordinary ability petitions, national interest waivers, family-based immigration, citizenship by descent, naturalization, and complex removal matters. Prior to establishing her practice, she served as Of Counsel for Mark A. Ivener, a Law Corporation, where she developed her skills in handling the requirements of immigration cases. Yardum-Hunter earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from Hofstra University, followed by her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law.

Her academic pursuits extended beyond the United States; she attended the Institute of Comparative and International Law in conjunction with the Sorbonne in Paris. Additionally, she pursued post-graduate international law studies at the Faculty of Law, Salzburg University in Austria. In 1980, she was admitted to the State Bar of California, starting her legal career. Throughout her career, Yardum-Hunter has been recognized for her contributions to immigration law. She was a Certified Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law until April 2024, when that status expired. From 1991 to 1994, she served as a Commissioner of the Board of Legal Specialization, Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission.

Her professional accolades include being named a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters every year from 2004 to 2017 and serving on its Blue-Ribbon Panel in 2012. She also holds a Distinguished™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, reflecting her commitment to excellence in legal practice. In addition to her practice, Yardum-Hunter has contributed to the field through her writing and advocacy. She edited two significant publications for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA): the "California Chapters Conference Handbook" in 1997 and "Representing Professionals Before the Department of Labor" in 1994. Furthermore, she authored a chapter in ILW.com's "Consular Posts Book." AILA has been a vital part of her professional life since 1984. She has served as a Congressional Liaison, advocating for immigration reform with members of Congress.

Yardum-Hunter's leadership roles extend to the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), where she was the Chair of the Immigration Section from 2011 to 2012. She has been a member of its executive committee since 2006 and played a pivotal role in establishing a liaison with the U.S. Department of Labor, making LACBA the only local bar association to achieve this.
