About Alexander

Alexander Palutis has spent decades working inside Pennsylvania’s legal system. He entered law after completing undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, where he earned a B.A. in American Government in 1983. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1987.

His first post-law school position came at the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, where he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Genevieve Blatt in 1987. That early exposure to appellate procedure and state administrative law shaped the kinds of matters he would handle later in his career. Clerking for a state jurist gave him close contact with legal research and opinion drafting at a formative stage.

After the clerkship he moved into private practice. Over the years he developed a practice centered on Pennsylvania workers’ compensation issues. He earned a certification that formalizes that competence: he is a Certified Specialist in Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Law, credentialed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. That certification signals an acknowledged level of knowledge in the state’s workers’ compensation statutes and procedures.

Palutis has remained rooted in Pennsylvania law throughout his career. He maintains active professional memberships and participates in the networks that support practitioners handling workplace injury disputes, administrative hearings and related appeals. His background in both appellate work and trial-level administrative matters gives him a perspective that spans the different stages of contested claims.

He currently practices at Smigel, Anderson & Sacks. At the firm he handles workers’ compensation matters and related proceedings in Pennsylvania. The work involves advising clients on claims, representing them in hearings, and addressing the procedural aspects that arise in contested cases and appeals.

Outside of casework his long tenure in the state’s legal community has involved continuing education and staying abreast of statutory and regulatory changes that affect injured workers and employers. He remains active in professional circles that monitor developments in Pennsylvania workers’ compensation law. He currently practices at Smigel, Anderson & Sacks, concentrating on workers’ compensation matters in Pennsylvania.
