About Alexander
Alexander Kugelman is a California-educated lawyer who completed his J.D. at Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2007 after earning a B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001. He entered the profession during a period of shifting tax rules and growing litigation over federal and state tax issues. His academic record placed him among peers who went into tax and litigation work, and his career path reflects that orientation.
He is admitted to practice in California and before several federal tribunals, including the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions allow him to take cases in trial and appellate settings across federal tax and district court forums. Over time he built a practice that uses those admissions to handle matters that move through both administrative and judicial processes.
Kugelelman launched Kugelman Law and serves as its founder and lawyer. At the firm he handles disputes that arise from tax assessments, collection actions, and contested determinations. His work often involves preparing filings for the Tax Court as well as briefing and arguing matters in federal district court. He represents individual taxpayers and business entities in contested matters, and he advises clients on procedural steps during audits and post-audit litigation.
Outside of his practice, he holds memberships in professional organizations that align with his work. He is a current member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association’s Tax Division. Those affiliations provide a forum for staying updated on tax procedure, court rulings, and legislative changes that affect representation strategies in both administrative and court settings.
Clients encounter Kugelman as a courtroom advocate and an adviser on case strategy. He has developed a practice that draws on federal court admissions and tax court experience to pursue resolution through negotiation or litigation as circumstances require. He maintains his practice at Kugelman Law, where his work centers on tax law and litigation matters.
