About Alexander

Alexander Ivakhnenko earned his law degree from DePaul College of Law in 2005 after several years of legal study. He also pursued concentrated coursework in asylum and international law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2004. Those academic experiences framed a practice that has included both courtroom appearances and matters touching immigration and international legal issues. The mix of DePaul’s general curriculum and Loyola’s asylum-focused courses shaped an early interest in cross-border and federal matters.

His earliest recorded work in the federal system dates to 1995, when he provided services through Federal Language Support at the U.S. Federal Court. That early exposure to federal proceedings preceded law school and gave him practical familiarity with court processes and the needs of parties and judges. After completing his J.D., he moved into bar admissions and began appearing in state and federal venues. He began building a practice that involves filings and appearances before multiple levels of the judiciary.

Ivakhnenko was admitted to the Illinois Supreme Court in 2006. In 2007 he gained admission to the trial bar of the U.S. Federal Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in state courts as well as in federal trial and appellate forums. He also serves as a Notary Public for Cook County, an administrative credential that complements his courtroom work and document handling.

He lists his office as Lawyer Alexander Ivakhnenko. The practice handles a range of proceedings that originate in Illinois and move into federal jurisdictions when needed. His background in asylum and international law, coupled with years of appearance rights across federal courts, informs how he approaches filings and oral argument. Colleagues and clients see a lawyer accustomed to shifting between state and federal dockets and to the procedural demands each requires.

Ivakhnenko remains active in the bar and maintains current admissions across Illinois and the federal courts to which he was admitted. He continues to accept matters that require representation in state courts, federal trial courts, and federal appellate courts, and his current practice concentrates on litigation and matters that intersect with immigration and federal procedure.
