About Alex
Alex Umansky began his academic path at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He continued his studies at New York University, taking a master's degree in international relations before turning to law at New York Law School, where he completed his J.D. His academic background pairs liberal arts and global studies with professional legal training.
After law school Umansky moved into practice in the New York and New Jersey legal communities. He joined the Law Office of Yuriy Moshes, P.C., and in 2015 became a partner there. His time at the firm has involved work across state and federal dockets in the metropolitan area. He is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey and to several federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
His professional affiliations reflect the circles in which he practices. He holds membership in the National Employment Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the New York County Lawyers Association. Those memberships place him in regular contact with peers who handle workplace disputes, civil litigation and related procedural practice. He participates in association events and continuing legal education opportunities to stay current on evolving case law and procedural developments.
Colleagues describe Umansky as someone who approaches cases methodically. He prepares filings and briefs intended to meet strict court schedules and standards. He appears in both state and federal courts in the New York–New Jersey region. Over time he has handled contested matters that require drafting pleadings, arguing motions and taking depositions.
He maintains offices in Brooklyn and at the firm’s main office. From those locations he manages client matters, supervises case strategy and coordinates with local counsel where necessary. His practice involves regular courtroom appearances and settlement negotiations, depending on the needs of each client.
As of 2026 Umansky concentrates his current practice on employment and other civil litigation matters in state and federal courts.
