About Alex M.

Alex M. Brown trained first as a political scientist and later as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mercer University in 2004 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Vermont Law School in 2008. Those academic steps set the stage for a career centered on dispute resolution and family law in Georgia.

Soon after law school he joined the State Bar of Georgia, where he has maintained active membership since 2008. He also became involved in the local bar community and, over time, took on leadership roles in professional organizations. In 2021 he served as president of the Augusta Family Law Bar, a role that placed him at the center of regional conversations about family court practice and professional standards.

Mediation work informs much of Brown’s day-to-day practice. He holds three mediation certificates from the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution: Domestic Mediation, Domestic Violence Mediation, and General Civil Mediation. Those credentials reflect time spent learning techniques for resolving disputes outside the courtroom and for managing sensitive interpersonal matters. Colleagues describe him as methodical in pretrial preparation and attentive during mediated sessions. He is a frequent participant in continuing-education events hosted by the Augusta Family Law Bar and local legal education providers.

Brown’s caseload has been shaped by his mediation training and his local bar involvement. He regularly handles matters that arise in family court, including contested and uncontested separations and related parenting plans. He also accepts referrals for civil mediation matters that fall under his general civil mediation credential. In practice he balances negotiation and formal pleadings, moving between settlement conferences and court filings depending on what each client’s situation requires.

He operates out of Alex M. Brown Law, LLC. The firm provides direct representation and mediation services for clients in the Augusta area and elsewhere in Georgia. He continues to maintain his bar membership and professional ties while leading or participating in local bar activities. His current practice concentrates on family law and mediation services.
