About Alejandro
Alejandro Martinez has spent more than a decade working around Texas criminal courts. He moved from municipal prosecutor to county lawyer before opening his own practice. His career path gives him experience on both sides of the courtroom.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009, studying sociology and psychology. He continued his legal education at SMU Dedman School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2012 and studying criminal law while there.
Martinez began his legal career in municipal prosecution. In 2013 he served as an assistant city lawyer and prosecutor in Dallas, handling a variety of misdemeanor and lower-level felony matters. He returned to that office in 2015 as lead prosecutor, a role that placed him in charge of case preparation and courtroom strategy for more serious city charges.
Also in 2015 he took on work at the county level as an assistant county lawyer and prosecutor for Williamson County. The county role exposed him to grand jury work and more complex felony dockets. That blend of municipal and county experience shaped his courtroom approach and deepened his familiarity with Texas criminal procedure.
In 2017 Martinez founded the Law Office of Alejandro Martinez, PLLC. As owner he shifted from prosecution to defense and private representation. He has maintained memberships in state and local professional groups, including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Williamson County Bar Association, joining those groups beginning in 2017.
Colleagues describe him as someone who understands the mechanics of both charging decisions and trial preparation. He draws on prior prosecution work when evaluating cases and discussing options with clients. He appears regularly in state courts across jurisdictions where he has practiced and represents clients at hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
