About Alan Thayer
Alan J. Thayer Jr. is a business attorney based in Eugene, Oregon, with over 40 years of experience in business, construction, employment, and real estate law. He is the managing member of Innovative Law Group, LLC, a firm he founded in 2008. The firm, located at 1209 Pearl Street, offers comprehensive legal services to businesses across Lane County. Born on May 13, 1959, in Dover, Delaware, Alan earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Oregon State University in 1981.
He graduated magna cum laude from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in 1985. After law school, he began his career at the Hershner Hunter law firm in Eugene, where he worked on complex business litigation cases, including unfair competition, securities fraud, and employment disputes. In 1996, Alan merged his practice with that of Mark W. Perrin to form the Perrin & Thayer business law firm. Following Mark Perrin's retirement, Alan established Innovative Law Group in 2008. The firm focuses on providing innovative legal solutions to business clients, emphasizing proactive strategies to prevent legal issues and seize opportunities.
Alan is an active member of the Oregon State Bar, participating in sections on Business Law, Debtor-Creditor, Environmental and Natural Resources, and Litigation. He has served on the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and is a founding member of its Small Business Council. Additionally, he serves on the board and executive committee for Associated Oregon Industries and is involved with the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce. In 1988, Alan was a delegate from Oregon to a national presidential nominating convention. He remains active in local, state, and federal issues and campaigns and was the founder and president of a local political action committee that brought young business people into the political process.
He also works with organizations that seek to prevent and treat child abuse. Alan continues to help business people solve problems and seize opportunities.
