About Adam

Adam Young completed formal trial advocacy training through the Department of Justice in 2010. The program is one of the few continued-education milestones listed on his record and it shaped an early interest in courtroom practice. His professional path began in federal and military settings and moved quickly into local prosecution and private practice.

He served as a law clerk in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2005. The following year he worked as a law clerk for Navy JAG assigned to NCIS matters, which exposed him to military justice and complex investigative procedures. Those early positions gave him hands-on experience drafting motions, reviewing discovery and observing federal trial preparation.

In 2008 he joined the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s Office as an assistant solicitor. In that role he prosecuted criminal cases at the state level and handled docket management and trial preparation. The work required frequent courtroom appearances and collaboration with investigators and victims’ advocates. He remained in public practice long enough to develop a practical sense of municipal and state charging decisions.

In 2013 he launched Young & Young Lawyers at Law. Establishing his own practice marked a shift from public service to private counsel and small-firm management. That same year he began serving as head prosecutor for the Folly Beach Municipal Court. He balanced firm responsibilities and municipal prosecutorial duties, overseeing case intake and courtroom strategy for that jurisdiction.

More recently he accepted the position of head prosecutor for the Kiawah Island Municipal Court in 2022. That appointment echoed earlier municipal work and reflected continued involvement in local court processes. Across his career he has moved between roles that require advocacy, case assessment and courtroom presentation. He has worked on both sides of the courtroom aisle: in government as a prosecutor and in private practice as counsel to individuals and businesses.

He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and South Carolina. He maintains a downtown office and continues to appear in municipal and trial courts in his admitted jurisdictions. He practices through Young & Young Lawyers at Law and handles municipal court matters and trial work in South Carolina and the District of Columbia.
